My Indestructible Soul

I started my career as an IT writer for a small dot com firm in 2001, around the same time when global recession had reared its ugly head, causing slowdown and havoc in the Indian IT industry.

Many corporates in India were letting go of people as part of restructuring. Firing employees was suddenly the new buzzword.

As luck would have it, I also lost my job within five months of joining the industry. Finding another IT job at that point in time was next to impossible. No one was willing to hire a fresh graduate.

Frustrated with my work situation back then, I took up a call center agent role at a leading BPO in Gurgaon. I didn't last there for long, since working in night shifts wasn't clearly my thing.

Nothing went right, despite me being good in academics and communication. Despite me having the grit and determination to succeed. Despite everything.

Mastering The Art Of Changing Diapers With Pampers

I am blessed with two happy children - Rishab (6) and Saanvi (2). Rishab spent a large part of his childhood in South Korea, where we lived for seven years. It would be suffice to say that Rishab taught us a lot of things about parenthood.
We were literally on our own in Korea - no parents, no relatives, no housemaid, and no nanny. But that wasn't necessarily a bad thing!
I learnt how to change diapers single-handedly, something I could never do in my effing life. When Rishab was born, you could simply tell by the look on his face that he had just soiled his diaper. This happened after every feeding, before bedtime, and every time we went outside with him.
Initially, I couldn't catch the signs properly. It's funny how little you know about basic baby care until you are thrown into parenting.
