The Fourth Edition Of Jal Mahotsav Will Knock Your Socks Off

In this blog post, I cover the fourth edition of Jal Mahotsav, currently underway at Hanuwantiya, District Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, from January 3, 2020, to February 3, 2020.

Want to experience the life, culture, customs, or traditions of Madhya Pradesh, the heart of India? If your answer is in the affirmative, head straight to the Jal Mahotsav 2020 before February 3. Participate in the most spectacular initiative of Madhya Pradesh Tourism geared towards promoting local arts, crafts, folk music, dance, and cuisines of the region.

Jal Mahotsav 2020

For more than four decades, Madhya Pradesh Tourism has been facilitating high-standard travel services for those visiting Central India for tourism. These services cover heritage, wildlife, cultural, pilgrimage, tribal, rural, etc.

Jal Mahotsav 2020

Jal Mahotsav was awarded the most innovative/unique tourism product 2015-16 by the Government of India, Ministry of Tourism, in 2017. This year marks the fourth edition of the festival, duly inaugurated by chief minister Shri Kamalnath Singh.

Yours truly made it just in time to be a part of the once-in-a-lifetime kind of extravaganza.

Situated about 150 km from Indore and 50 km from Khandwa, Hanuwantiya is a virgin, relatively unknown hamlet with a vast reservoir (approximately 95 sq km), located at the banks of the Indira Sagar Dam. What's interesting is that Indira Sagar Lake has over 90 islands with rich biodiversity ... And you can easily access these islands by speed boat; how cool is that!

Jet Skiing

For the uninitiated, Jal Mahotsav 2020 is a month-long festival to explore adventure activities, arts and crafts, music, food, nature, and many more. Your best bet to experience the sheer magnificence and potential of Jal Mahotsav 2020 would be to stay at the Hanuwantiya Tent City, because that is where all the action is!

Luxury Tent

Choose from a range of luxury and ultra-luxury swiss tents courtesy Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department, spread in over 17 acres of land, with all modern amenities like the poster bed, study table, air conditioner, electric blanket, separate toilet and washroom, toiletries, etc.

Colorful, long-lasting, waterproof, defect-free, and, most importantly, absolutely safe, these tents are ideal for people like me who prefer something aesthetical.

Meals are served in the multicuisine dining hall, adjacent to the luxury tents.

Maharaja Dining Hall

If you're looking for light-hearted cultural entertainment, enjoy a bevy of open-air performances from native dancers and musicians.

This year the event also offers adventure junkies a plethora of land, water, and aerial activities to rejoice and make memories of a lifetime.

Banana Boat

Personally, there were a lot of firsts for me at this edition of the fest. From Hot Air Ballooning to Paramotoring, from Water Parasailing to Cruise Boating, the fun just never ends. I have never been so excited in my life!

My inner child wanted to explore everything at the Hanuwantiya Tent City. I was only staying for a night, though!

Those who wish to be a part of the Jal Mahotsav 2020 need to hurry, as the festival is on till February 3 only ... As far as I am concerned, I can't wait to return next year!
