A Flavorful Journey at The Great Bear, Chandigarh

In this blog post, I explore The Great Bear Kitchen & Microbrewery in Sector 26, Chandigarh.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Great Bear Kitchen & Microbrewery in Sector 26, Chandigarh. This establishment, situated in the heart of the city's food and beverage scene, offers an experience that delights all the senses. The brewery is distinguished by its excellent brews, inviting ambiance, and innovative design.

First Impressions

From the outside, The Great Bear presents a modest facade. But as soon as you step inside, you're transported to a different world. The interior, designed by the renowned architect Arun Loomba, strikes a balance between picturesque charm and industrial chic.

The decor is captivating, with vintage sewing machine tops repurposed into tabletops, giving a whimsical touch to the space. It felt like stepping into a creatively curated museum dedicated to beer lovers.

The highlight of the space is undoubtedly the high stainless steel fermenting tanks, proudly lining the midsection of the brewery. It's here that the magic happens, crafting four distinct flavors: Golden Ale, German Bock, Weiss Bier, and The Brewer's Special.

As someone who enjoys variety, I appreciated the option to sample these flavors before committing to a full glass.

Each beer had its own unique character, from the light and refreshing Golden Ale to the robust and hearty German Bock

And whatever you do, don't miss out on the Mango Beer—it's absolutely refreshing, especially in peak summer!

The Ambiance

One of the standout features of The Great Bear is its ambiance. I was greeted by verdant green walls and a serene atmosphere that felt almost Zen-like.

I was particularly impressed by their selection of single malts and imported wines, which showed a commitment to quality and variety.

But what's a good drink without some delicious food to go along with it? Chef Paramjeet Singh Dhiman has curated a menu that pairs perfectly with the drink offerings.

The Peri Peri Quinoa Popcorn was a delightful surprise—crispy on the outside with a molten core, it was the perfect bar snack. The Chelo Kebab Platter and Chicken Quesadilla were equally impressive, showcasing a blend of global flavors with local ingredients.

The Creators

The Great Bear is the brainchild of Amritanshu Agarwal and Priyanka Gupta, a dynamic husband-and-wife duo with a passion for creating unique beer experiences.

Their previous ventures, Hops n Grains in Panchkula and Mohali, have already set a high standard, and The Great Bear continues this legacy. They have poured their hearts into making this brewery a standout destination in Chandigarh.

Final Thoughts
