Tribe Brunch and Bar - An Unusual Dining Experience

When you're a passionate food blogger like yours truly, there is never a dull moment. I enjoy opportunities to review food and beverages from all over the world and share my experiences with a larger audience, hoping that they too can benefit from it.

I like to meet new and interesting people associated with the food industry such as chefs, waitstaff, operation managers, etc. and hear about their unique culinary experiences. If I get to taste their latest offerings firsthand, I share my own, honest opinions about what works and what doesn't.

Most folks in the hospitality industry come from different places and background and get to move around a bit for work. I find interacting with them useful and important to quench my undying appetite for growth.

Tribe Brunch and Bar

This weekend I was invited by the renowned Chef Vijay (41), to visit a newly opened fine dining restaurant in Vasant Kunj, Delhi, called the Tribe Brunch and Bar.

Originally from Assam but now settled in Delhi, Vijay brings to the table 22 years of F&B experience with world-renowned brands like Maharaja's Express, Jaypee Hotels, The Plazzio Hotel, etc. Within no time, Vijay and I became comfortable in each other's company and talked casually on a variety of topics, including the importance of good food, use of natural ingredients in food, the right way of eating food (especially sea food), etc. Vijay is extremely knowledgeable about food. He argued about the authenticity of organic food in India.

Vijay was the first to introduce Japanese Sushi with Indian Tandoori Chicken Kebabs (fusion food). At Tribe, Vijay uses herbs and other natural ingredients that leave you feeling light and good, even minutes after a sumptuous, hearty meal.

Vijay then introduced me to Sudhir Kumar, who heads the operations at Tribe.

Sudhir Says

  • The restaurant was opened to general public on February 15, 2015.
  • Hailed as a fine dining restaurant, Tribe offers world cuisine, including European, Mexican, Chinese, and Indian delicacies.
  • Tribe is owned by Harbir Khatri, who is also the name behind Paradise Banquet (a 16-year-old banquet that caters to all types of events - social and corporate).

First Impressions

From the moment you enter the Tribe, you'll fall in love with its decor.

Built around the concept of African forests and wildlife, the chic restaurant draws inspiration from the tribal life.

If you prefer sitting outside, the indigenous African gazebos and shacks will add to the pleasant African sensibility. All this and more will make your dining experience unusual yet worthwhile.

The walls are endorsed with tribal props, the kind you see in a safari.

The earthy brown interiors are beautifully done. Contemporary, wooden furniture gives a bird's eye view of the African culture. The AV is fantastic too - with live TV projected on a large screen and soothing soulful music playing in the background - you'll never really feel out of place when you're at Tribe.

I quite like their open kitchen concept. Come, see the master chefs in action.

Adjacent to the kitchen is a tribe bar and lounge area, where you can sit and enjoy the signature cultural delights.
