The Drunken Botanist Redefines Your Culinary Fantasies

In this blog post, I cover The Drunken Botanist, one of the most happening hangouts in CyberHub Gurgaon.

I have been meaning to visit The Drunken Botanist since its preopening last year but something or the other has always gotten in the way of making it happen. I was even invited to the launch party in April but couldn't make it (... and would you believe that I just live a few blocks away from CyberHub!).

So as luck would have it, I managed to sneak in for a few hours last week ... and man did I have the time of my life!

The brainchild of popular restaurateurs Manish Sharma, Sahil Sambhi and Yogendra Sharma (who brought us the uber-chic 'Molecule Air Bar'), The Drunken Botanist is an absolute delight for foodies and a must visit if you're visiting the CyberHub anytime soon.

The quirky restaurant, which borrows its name from a book by Amy Stewart, succeeds in combining the earthy aesthetics of nature with the chic nuances of modern dining. It's a rare combination but the one that works, marrying elements of green, dew and freshness that's so hard to ignore!

The eclectic outlet has close to 180 covers and houses one of the longest bars in the city. My first impression about The Drunken Botanist is extremely positive; as you enter the premises, an old world charm tends to sweep you off your feet in the most soulful way. The intricate elements of nature, the earthy smell of green plants, and the tastefully done interiors are bound to cast its magic, reminding you of the verdant hues of a quintessential French botanical garden. The decor is an indelibly memorable part of breaking bread with customers.

I was equally impressed with the top-notch quality of food and drinks. With the launch of their new menu, Chef Vaibhav Bhargava and Chef Naresh Chinni continue to be at the helm of affairs, churning out one innovative dish after the other like the Japanese Cold Salmon Pizza, Vietnamese Roll, Edible Charcoal, Lotus Root Our Way, Wasabi Pea Bhel, Chole Bhature Tacos, Idli Goes Asian, Goan Masala Pomfret, Tandoori Afghani Chicken, Chicken 65, Mix Fruit and Berries Cobbler, etc.

Kudos are also in store for the very talented mixologist Sunny Belwal, who gave me a tour of the microbrewery and showed me the brewery taps installed at the bar, followed by a tasting of the signature beers like Moves Like Lager and Dark Stout Rises.

Sunny also prepared a bourbon whiskey base signature cocktail for me called The Doorbell (which I absolutely love btw), made of almond syrup, pineapple juice, and Angostura. One unique thing about Sunny is that every offering from his bar is based on 'Your Mood, Your Cocktail', which I think is super cool! More than 300 cocktails are sold from the bar every day at The Drunken Botanist ...

The new menu fulfills your epicurean ecstasy, taking you through a gastronomic journey and in the process showcasing the best street foods across the world, not just India, in full regalia. To indulge your senses and pamper your palate in every sense of the word, the menu is divided into different sections ranging from world street food and progressive world cuisine to delectable desserts. Lip-smacking food and innovative botanical drinks at The Drunken Botanist make a lethal combination - something that culinary fantasies are made of!

Entry is open to everyone above the age of 25 years, making The Drunken Botanist a perfect place for corporate parties and get-together with friends and family.

The resident Botanist gives vent to his eccentric, inventive ingenuity to craft unusual beers, cocktails, and blends of every kind to add to the rustic charm of the place. Let the sweet notes of pleasant conversations fill the air with serenity. Lose yourself to the soothing tunes of live music, hum along to every strum, and relish your tête-à-tête with perfection.

Sit down, stamp your passport with the taste of every street of the world, at the lift of a spoon and the turn of the fork. Only at The Drunken Botanist.

  4. Being in G-Town, who doesn't stop by Drunken Botanist. I have also been there and the food was really delicious. Their ambience is also perfect for party animals. But I want to add one thing here that if you are looking for a place to have a word with your beloved than this is not the one. I loved the sushis here.

    1. Yes, the music here can get a bit loud at times, especially over the weekend. But they have a huge seating area otherwise. I'm sure you can find a cozy corner to chit-chat with your beloved.
