A Day at Pra Pra Prank - India's first playful and spirited brasserie

In this blog post, I cover Pra Pra Prank, India's first playful and spirited brasserie, which offers anything but the usual!

The brother duo of Biggie Hospitality Inderjeet and Jasmeet Banga are relentless in their pursuit of perfection. With Prankster, they offered us India's first food and brewery campus in Sector 29, Gurgaon, which to date is hailed as the biggest single floor restaurant in Gurgaon since its launch in September 2016, built around the 'Back to College/University' theme.

Their new baby Pra Pra Prank offers global standards in hospitality backed by excellent food and service. With an ambiance to die for, Pra Pra Prank excels at being both sophisticated and luxuriously decadent in equal measure.

Nestled inside the DLF CyberHub Gurgaon, the restaurant impresses from the word go through the innovative use of visual merchandise and killer display windows. As you make your way towards the entrance, you can't help but draw comparisons to a quaint brasserie in a small European town.

Pass the beautiful glass door and the sensual aromas wafting from the open kitchen will truly engulf your senses. Take a minute here to stop by at the innovative Sushi Bar, which is like a precursor to Pra Pra Prank's classic epicurean journey. Another revelation at Pra Pra Prank is the secret bar, which could very well become your most cherished space.

The non-conformist and quirky menu at Pra Pra Prank is the brainchild of Harangad Singh, the dynamic Corporate Chef of Biggie Hospitality, whose passion for innovation remains unbridled from Prankster days.

Chef Harangad has perfected the art of using distinct culinary techniques, by taking familiar flavors and giving them an unconventional and playful spin for diners, in turn making it a hallmark of the #PraPraPrank menu. The food surprises, comforts, and satiates, all at the same time!

FOOD

Making debut at Pra Pra Prank is a huge selection of Modern Indian and Asian plates with new, exciting flavors. The menu caters to the palate of the comfort seeker and the gourmand, alike.

A strong proponent of great taste and flavors, Chef Harangad succeeds in introducing pub food with a unique twist. The Sushi section of his menu is worth a mention here.

Using the finest rice and the freshest ingredients, #PraPraPrank's Sushi list is unparalleled amongst restaurants in the city. If you're a Sushi lover, look out for the Veg Rainbow Roll, Watermelon and Cream Cheese Roll, Prawn Two Ways Roll, or Miso Marinated Salmon Roll with Pistachios.

From a modern take on the universal Okonomiyaki to rare Asian delights like the Veg Puffsome, the menu is addictive, to say the least! The Crab Stick Salad - where the mild sweetness of the crab serves as a great contrast to the flavorful finely diced avocado in yuzu soy - creates a perfectly palatable blend. Following this hearty theme is the Japanese curry infused Nihari with Asian buns; the braised lamb shanks are fork tender and a pleasure to eat, as everything is perfectly seasoned.

Dishes such as the Rara Mutton Bao Dog and Chole Kulchas Doughnut are some of the other innovative creations to look out for, and certainly not to be missed at all!

In the mood for something exotic? Try the Truffle and Tomato Chicken, twanging with the gorgeous flavor of truffles and served with a sun-dried tomato naan.

The Pindi Chana with Khasta Kulcha served with Asian toppings is as spectacular as the Homestyle Keema with Edamame served with Carom flavored Kerala Parota. Traditional dishes like the Chicken Chili Pot Stickers wind up in quirky plates. Even the Wild Mushroom Biryani - a house creation with shitake, ceps, Shinji, and fungus served with a Dahi Wada Raita - is adapted, tweaked, made hugely playful, and placed comfortably in a setting that immediately puts you at ease.

The desserts carry forward the same idiosyncratic tone, alluring you with a jumble of flavors that melt in your mouth. Baked Cheesecake - served with a strawberry sheet, butter crumble and white chocolate shards - promise potent doses of decadent comfort.

BAR AND BEVERAGE

Look out for the miniature bottles door to get inside ... prior reservations are advised! Custom designed as an upscale, retro-chic abode, there's a lot to discover here.

Just as the food menu surprises and delights, a whole new and exhilarating cocktail offering by Mixologist Sanchayan greets you with a smile at the bar. It's a place for great conversations, unconventional cocktails, and bartenders who will remember your name and favorite poison.

The painstakingly selected wine list is balanced between old and new world wines, aimed to showcase treasured labels. The vibrant bar whips out some fabulous uplifting fruit cocktails, ultra-chilled beers, and signature #PraPraPrank concoctions like the Clarified Bloody Mary and the Early Morning Gin Sour.

The all-new cocktail menu also includes a Japanese Negroni, with a twist of a few Japanese ingredients like sesame oil, gari, and yuzu lemon.

Feeling adventurous? Try the Prohibition Pop Up, a delightful balance of American whiskey with coffee and popcorn, taking you back to an era of prohibition in the Americas region circa 1920, where people hid their drink with a newspaper! Scrap all the rule books here and enjoy the extremely sweet concoctions.

All in all, Pra Pra Prank is a space that defies stereotypes. The music is buzzy, the air is happy, and the setting is tranquil yet chic.

There is never a dull moment here whatsoever, whether it's an off-the-cuff outing with friends, a catch up after work with colleagues, a weekend lunch with family, a date with somebody special, or simply getting your weekend mojo back. This is precisely my kind of place. And yours!
